As part of our continuing mission to enrich the sharing of ideas between medical and scientific communities around the world, the Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine has been published Open Access on PubMed Central as of summer 2007. The Open Access concept allows for free and immediate access to YJBM's peer-reviewed articles via the Internet, expanding articles' potential audiences. In addition, Open Access publications are a valuable resource to authors in developing countries. Recent studies have indicated that Open Access articles are more commonly cited and recognized by researchers than are privately archived articles requiring subscriptions .
We encourage submissions by enthusiastic researchers and scholars who are similarly committed to exchanging knowledge with the entire scientific community.
Unlike some Open Access journals, YJBM charges no publication fees. Upon submitting to YJBM, authors will be asked to sign an agreement detailing our open-access policy and assigning copyright for print and commercial uses to YJBM. Under our open-access license, any user may read, download, or reproduce a digital copy of any article, as long as proper credit is given to the authors and to the journal as the place of original publication. All commercial rights are retained by the journal.
The Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine is published on PubMed Central, a digital archive maintained by the National Institutes of Health via the National Library of Medicine. Articles are indexed on the PubMed search engine. As of summer 2007, all of our articles are freely available through our site on PMC.
We ask all authors to transfer copyright to YJBM by submitting our copyright form, which will be sent to authors on acceptance of their articles for publication. Please contact us for permissions if you wish to have any part of your published article reproduced except as specified above.
